תדריך משימת 15/4 - זירת New Guinea - קמפיין אביב 42

Hi all, we meet as usual on Thursday April 15th at 18:30GMT for the New Guinea Sector mission.


The time in Port Moresby is 14:00
Weather is Hazy, cloud base at 1300 meters.



Objectives for the mission

Before I get into mission specifics I want to make sure pilots understand our strategic situation: An attack on our production facilities in Hawaii is forthecoming!
Please make all efforts to bring your airplanes home as we will soon be feeling the pressure of reduced production capacity which will ultimately reduce our ability to provide reinforcements and replacements for lost aircraft.
Keep in mind that the airplane you lose today will hurt us severely in the next missions - do your best to bring them back!

In this mission we will be attacking and sinking the 5x Destroyers parked of Buna Beach. These Destroyers have the capability with their long range artillery to shell our 50 cal teams on the CPs we intend to recapture during the night. In this mission the IAF and 102nd squadrons will be conducting the shipping attack together as a large strike package.

The strike package will consist of two main forces:

102nd Sqn: 4x A-20C (2x armed with 4x 500lb and 2x armed with 1x Torpedo) and 4x P-40E w/DT as escort.
This group will take off from Milne Bay area (the A-20s are from the Suva Airstart) and RV with the IAF over Lake Tatore in AU-16.

IAF Sqn: 4x P-39N armed with 1x 250kg bomb and 4x P-40E w/DT as escort.
This group will Airstart from Cairns SP and RV with the 102nd over Lake Tatore in AU-16.

Both groups will then proceed together as a large group to the target (after RV we should flank NNW to AS-24 so that we ingress to the target area from the sea).


Apart from this main event we will also have:

CAP of Port Moresby and Kokoda Trail area with 4x P-39D. I am hoping this group will be able to make a lot of noise over the Kokoda Trail and attaract as many enemy fighters as they can.

Human recon of the North East to North area of the map for Maru insertions with 2x P-39N armed with 1x 250kg bomb (IAF).

Enemy submerged submarine in BM-4. We will need a careful effort on this one. Low level bomb drop on enemy periscope (submerged sub) in BM-4 (102nd).

69.GIAP Sqn:
4x P-39D of the 39th and 41st FS USAF; from Port Moresby; CAP Port Moresby and Kokoda Trail - try to engage the enemy and draw in all his fighters to your location.


102nd Sqn:
4x P-40E with DT; 76th FS RAAF; Takeoff from Milne Bay; Escort the A-20C strike package.

4x A-20C 2x armed with 4x 500lb and 2x armed with 1x Torpedo; 22nd BS RAAF; Airstart from Suva SP; RV with the IAF at Lake Tatore in AU-16; Attack enemy Destroyers near Buna together with the IAF.

2x B-17E with 8x 1,000lb bombs; Takeoff from Port Moresby; Low level bomb drop on enemy periscope (submerged sub) in BM-4.


IAF Sqn:
4x P-39N with 250kg bomb; 9th FS USAF; Airstart from Cairns SP; RV with the 102nd at Lake Tatore in AU-16; Attack enemy Destroyers near Buna together with the 102nd.

4x P-40E with DT; 30th FS USAF; Airstart from Cairns SP;Escort the P-39N strike package.

2x P-39N with 1x 250 kg bomb; 201st FS; Airstart from Suva SP; recon of the NE to middle N edge of the map.
