The provisional outline for this campaign itself will probably be of interest. Its a really comprehensive study of the factory plates, Nightflying, seow radar and all of the Radio aids that 4.10 introduced, and its 'light' so numbers can hopefully be fairly high:-

SEOW Campaign “The Big Week” (DRAFT)
This campaign, though not 100% historical due to the lack of proper maps, is a re-enactment of the “Big Week” strategic bombing campaign.
“Between February 20–25, 1944, as part of the European strategic bombing campaign, the United States Strategic Air Forces (USSTAF) launched Operation Argument, a series of missions against the Third Reich that became known as Big Week. The planners intended to lure the Luftwaffe into a decisive battle by launching massive attacks on the German aircraft industry. By defeating the Luftwaffe, the Allies would achieve air superiority and the invasion of Europe could proceed. The daylight bombing campaign was also supported by RAF Bomber Command, when they operated against the same targets at night” (source: Wikipedia)

Campaign duration: 12 Missions (8 day missions, 4 night missions)
Campaign Objectives:
Allied bombers must destroy enemy industrial areas to 25% of their total strength.
Each 5.000 lost points difference (for each side) does contribute to 5% of Factory strength.
(so, for instance, if Axis loses 10.000 points more than the enemy, Allies win if they destroy factories to 35% of overall strength).
Ancillary campaign objective: Luftwaffe has some night bombers who have to destroy factories in England. Destruction of factories in England weights 10% of German factories, so, for instance, if English factories are destroyed up to 20% of their value, this adds 2% to strength of German factories.
German bombing is not important in this campaign, it is added just for gameplay.
IMPORTANT NOTE for Campaign Objectives
This will be mainly a campaign of air fighting. So basically the Allies must bomb (and also the German must bomb at night, as a secondary campaign objective), and the German must defend. As an important objective, both sides must try to save their lives and planes, because they have a big impact on campaign results.
All these rules are aimed at having all players behaving in a realistic way and recreating great air battles. So, the final outcome of the campaign and the “strategic” side of the campaign are not really very important, the important thing will be having 70 players fighting together in a coordinate and realistic way and reproducing the epic air battles that raged over Europe sky in those days.

Rules:
This campaign is meant to recreate strategic bombing raids over Germany (and, at night, also over England). So its aim is recreating large battles, at high altitude, between Allied heavy bombers and their escorts, and German fighters.
So, only heavy bombers (and Mosquitos at night) will be able to carry any ordnance. Bombers and Mosquitoes will be allowed to fly and release their ordnance at altitude not below 2000m. Bombers will be allowed to fly below 2000m only in case of emergency (damaged bomber). In other words, low level penetration below radar altitude is not allowed to bombers. Fighters can fly at any altitude but cannot carry bombs (they can do strafing attacks on airfields, though).
Targets: factories are represented by new “area target” objects. These are very large objects (circles of 400-600-800m diameter) but very tough. A single bomb will not be able to destroy one of these factories. You will need tons of bomb, whole flights of heavy bombers, to destroy one. But partial damage to a factory will be logged and will be registered by SEOW engine. So you will be able to destroy a factory area in several missions.
As an approximate example, you need a flight of 4 B-17 with maximum bombload, all bombs hitting their target, to completely destroy a medium sized factory area.
Other allowed targets of this campaign are airfields, with parked aircraft and AAA, and also AAA batteries near factories.
Night missions:
We have a different planeset for night missions. Unfortunately we don’t have in IL-2 onboard radar, so night fighting will resemble more what happened in 1941-1942 than in 1944. Night fighters will have to rely on SEOW radar (broadly resembling ground based radar) and searchlights.
As in real war, a searchlights and AAA defence (Himmelbett) will be set up in Belgium/Holland/France at the border with Germany.
A similar defence will be set at the coast of England.
Pathfinders: use of pathfinders units (aircraft dropping flares to mark targets) is allowed. Pathfinders can be both human and AI.
Airstarts
Allied bombers will have only airstart. This is done to reduce mission length. Travel to targets in Germany from Great Britain is about 1h to 1h 15m. Adding time needed by 20 to 30 bombers for takeoff, climb to altitude and rejoin formation would easily take to 1h 30m – 1h 45m flight to target. Then there is time needed to return to base and land. This could be too much for some players. So airstart is used to save time.
Mission duration: 2h 30m
As said above, this is barely the time needed to reach the target, come back and land. No tactics like “we will wait 1 hour over England and then start going toward Germany” are allowed. Strategic raids were done by hundreds of bombers and fighters, these raids were easily detected by radar and ground observers and always meet fierce fighter opposition. In 1944 escort fighters were able to escort bombers through the whole mission. So, the aim of this campaign will be recreating these large air battles, not having pilot waiting doing nothing. So the Allies will not be expected to try avoiding battle, arrive to the target undetected by flying at treetop height, etc. Of course it will be allowed mounting feint or fake attacks to show on Radar to cover the real target of the mission.

Some small airfields, just used as emergency landing fields, will just have lights
